OUR STORY
The Evolution of Challenge Discovery Projects
In 1980, Challenge Discovery Projects opened its doors in the East End of Richmond offering school-based and community programs focusing on behavioral health, substance abuse, bullying prevention and trauma. Since then, our commitment to serving youth in Richmond’s most challenged communities has remained steadfast. As a safety net provider, Challenge Discovery Projects is focused on fostering wellness and promoting healthy thriving individuals who then contribute to the overall health of the community. Using risk and protective factors, as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and building resilience are the cornerstones of our mission.
OUR MISSION
Challenge Discovery Projects engages youth, adolescents, and families in opportunities designed to encourage success through the provision of evidence-based, best-practice programs. We serve nearly 1,000 clients annually, regardless of their ability to pay.
Who we serve: We provide social and emotional skills development services to at promise youth throughout the greater Richmond area, with specific emphasis on youth living in the East End of Richmond. Our passion is educating and supporting the youth as they develop social emotional skills necessary to reach their fullest potential.
