OUR PARTNERS

CDP proudly collaborates with other organizations in Richmond in order to facilitate overall community wellness through comprehensive support.

CDP partners with schools to implement Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) programming during the school day at Bellevue, Chimborazo, Fairfield Court, Henry Marsh, and Woodville Elementary Schools. CDP also leads SEL programming for all 9th graders at Armstrong High School as well as for a 9th grade girls' group at Varina High School.

Communities In Schools (CIS) of Richmond coordinators identify groups for participation in CDP programming, and our counselors travel to designated schools and partner organizations. In the past, CDP has partnered with Anna Julia Cooper School, the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Richmond, and the Robinson Theater. CDP's counselors have also traveled to Peter Paul Development Center and the Salvation Army Red Shield Youth Center to lead summer and after-school programming.

In collaboration with the City of Richmond, Communities in Schools, ChildSavers, and Richmond City Parks and Recreation, CDP counselors lead after-school SEL group sessions through the "We Matter" gun violence prevention program. For the fourth consecutive year, "We Matter" serves 7th and 8th-grade youth from Martin Luther King, Jr. and River City Middle Schools.

Alongside the 13th District Juvenile Domestic Court Detention Center, CDP also provides behavioral health services and substance use prevention for the Post-Dispositional Program.

CDP’s building also serves as a community hub and has provided meeting space for:

  • The Richmond Office of Community Wealth Building (OCWB)

  • EveryTable

  • ChildSavers

  • Greater Richmond Stop Child Abuse Now

  • Family Lifeline

  • Rework Richmond

  • Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA)

  • Richmond Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA)

“CDP has generously shared their space with us for almost 5 years, enabling SCAN to provide in-person group meeting space for our court-mandated parenting and children’s groups. Our ongoing collaboration with CDP is a true example of a collaborative partnership in action. CDP’s generosity, responsiveness, and flexibility has greatly helped us carry out our mission. Our partnership with CDP has been essential for providing access to a safe, welcoming, comfortable, convenient, and supportive environment that reduces known barriers for the families we serve." --Angela Borsella, Ph.D., Family Support Program Director; Greater Richmond Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN)
